Scotti Dominant Again

 

Northeastern: Wyatt Scotti took the ball for the Huskies for the third time this season, which he turned into his third win in a row. Scotti tossed three hitless innings against Bryant, allowing just two baserunners in his outing. The Huskies move to 7-5 on the season, while Scotti is now 3-0 and has still yet to allow an earned run in his 11 innings pitched.


VCU: Connor Hujsak and the VCU Rams remained .500 on the season as they took down Old Dominion before dropping their 2-game set against Liberty. Hujsak recorded a double, scored a run, and drew 3 walks on the week.


Merrimack: After their game against Northeastern, Bryant traveled to Andover to take on the Merrimack Warriors. Although losing game 1, LT Pare had a great outing out of the pen, going 1.1 innings without allowing a baserunner. Timmy Kalantzakos was also solid out of the bullpen in game 2 of the series, tossing 1.2 innings and striking out 4 while allowing 1 unearned run. Bryant would sweep the series against Merrimack, putting the Warriors record on the season at 3-8.


Maryland/Penn State: It was a Silver Knights/BIG10 matchup this weekend as the Nittany Lions and Terps faced off. Outfielder Logan Ott shown the brightest of the Knights as he notched 2 hits, 2 walks, and a run scored in the series. Matt Orlando, Maryland’s first baseman, also recorded a run and an RBI in the series. Nittany Lions outfielder, Kyle Hannon, also recorded a hit in the series. Maryland would win the series 2-1.


Binghamton: The Bearcats kicked off their 2021 season this past weekend with a 4-game set against Hartford. 2020 FCBL Champion, Gabe Driscoll, got the ball for the first time this year, sitting down the only batter he would face. Hartford took the series from Binghamton 3-1.


Holy Cross: Opening their season against #21 Boston College, followed by a conference series against Lafayette, the Crusader’s started the 2021 campaign 0-4. Freshman Pat Casserly got his first at bats of his young career and registered a double for his first career hit in the series finale against Lafayette.


Palm Beach Atlantic: PBA got back on track this week in their 3-game series vs Saint Leo. After losing a tight one in the series opener, the Sailfish would bounce back to win the final 2 games in the matchup. Shortstop Sean Houck recorded 3 hits, 2 walks, 2 runs, an RBI, and a stolen base in the series. The sailfish are now 2-7 on the season.


Saint Joseph’s (ME): Lefty George Welch got the ball against Colby this weekend, striking out 7 batters over 4 innings pitched, and allowing 4 runs. The Monks would lose the game 11-5, and Welch would take the loss on the day. The Monks bounced back to take game 2 of the double header and move their record to 3-7.


Clark: Nick Guarino took the mound for Clark in what would be his first outing since his stellar performance in game 2 of the 2020 FCBL Championship vs the Worcester Bravehearts. Facing off against Coast Guard, Guarino tossed 4 innings, allowed 3 earned runs, and struck out 7 batters in his outing. Coast Guard would end up stealing the game late and sweeping the 2-game set.
