College Baseball Has Arrived!

It was an opening weekend full of past and present Silver Knights. After a long off-season of training, the boys finally took to the field. In a successful opening weekend across the board, Merrimack pitcher Timmy Kalantzakos saw the best outcome. In the programs first ever Division I game, Timmy took the mound against Oral Roberts to kick off the year. He hurled 6.2 innings allowing just 1 run and striking out 3 in the process. He did not pick up a decision as Merrimack fell in the opener 2-1.

The University of Maryland got off to a hot start going 3-0 on the weekend taking on Charleston Southern, Iona, and the College of Charlestown. Left Fielder Troy Schreffler Jr. notched his 1st collegiate hit along with 2 RBIs in the Terps win against Charleston Southern.

Penn State wrapped up their opening weekend going 3-1 against Bucknell, NJIT, and Monmouth. Pitcher Ralph Gambino tossed 1.2 scoreless innings against in-state rival Bucknell. He also picked up his first strikeout of the 2020 campaign.

Check back in next week for a full slate of games from the Division I, II, and III levels!
