Strong Pitching Leads Knights to Victory

The Knights put it all together at home on Monday against the Westfield Starfires. Danny Gracia (Franklin Pierce) took the mound for his 2nd start of the season. He want 6 strong innings, giving up just 2 earned runs. After minimizing damage late, he gave the offense an opportunity to come storming back. The Silver Knights landed all 3 batters on base to begin the bottom half of the sixth. A HBP by Brodeur, a double off the bat of Dylan Jones, and a walk to Jared Dupere set the table for the Kyle Sandstrom (Charleston Southern). Sandstrom uncorked a 2-RBI double in the gap, an errant throw from the Westfield right fielder put Sandstrom at 3rd base and allowed a 3rd run to come across on the play. Joe Bramanti and Ben Cowles piled on with RBI hits of their own to push the lead up to 4.

The Bullpen came in and shut the door on Westfield. George Welch came in and struck out 4 of the 6 batters he faced. Setting up Joe Grassett to come in and put a bow on it in the 9th.

The Silver Knights are now 4-6 and will be back in action on Tuesday at home, taking on the Pittsfield Suns for the first time in the 2019 summer.
