Following a disappointing home opener against Worcester, Nashua looked to salvage their two-game weekend slate at Holman Stadium. But trying to fix their miscues from the night prior, the Knights once again got in their own way in a tough 8-0 shutout against the Sea Unicorns.

In a form of deja vu, another opposing starter showed out against the Knights. Dartmouth’s Clark Gilmore no-hit Nashua for four innings with Nichols’s Pat Sawyer throwing five frames of shutout ball right after him.

Rhode Island’s Brandon Hsu got his first start of the 2023 campaign, throwing two quick innings to start off. It wasn’t until the third that some tough bounces and base knocks got Hsu in a jam. Johnny Knox, the Nichols middle infielder on the Knights championship squad last season, now contributed for the opposition with an RBI single in the third. A passed ball and sacrifice fly later and the Knights found themselves in a 3-0 hole.

Northeastern’s Ryan Griffin made his Nashua debut after Hsu and had a tough time limiting walks. After putting runners on for Norwich to cash in, it was only a matter of time til UMass Dartmouth’s DJ Perron smoked a three-run home run to double the lead. After five, it was 6-0 Norwich.

Mitchell’s Derek Dascoulias followed Griffin but fell into the same issues. Norwich would add two more in the Albany, NH native’s one inning of work.

With the Knights needing a break in the seventh, Salem State’s Greg Gentle provided much-needed help with three scoreless frames. Gentle held off the Unicorns, but the Knights' bats were not able to come alive in time for a monumental comeback

After a tough stretch at home, Nashua will look to get right on the road tomorrow in Brockton before heading back home for another two-game stretch. Silver Knights vs Rox is set for 6:30 PM on Monday.
