The bats were silent for both teams in this defensive matchup between the Nashua Silver Knights and the Bristol Blues on June 7th. This two hour and 18-minute contest saw lights out pitching for ten straight innings from both sides. The game went into the tenth inning where it had to be decided by the first home run derby of the Silver Knights season. The first round was a three-minute round and both teams hit three home runs. The game was then decided in the second round when the Blues hit one more home run than the Knights to secure the win in a very tight game in Bristol.
Andrew Hague led the way for the Bristol Blues had two hit which where two out of the three hits that Bristol put up for the game.
Thomas Joyce led the way for the Silver Knights in the hard loss going two for three and hitting a homerun in the second round of the homerun derby. Nick Biddison went two for four. Kyle Maurice put up three home runs in the first round of the derby then one home run in the second before being replaced by Joyce.
Pat Maybach got the start for the Knights and went six lights out innings allowing only three hits and two walks while striking out four. Nick Couhig then came in and pitched two shutout innings while striking out four. Drew Farkas then made his first appearance for the Knights in the ninth striking out six Blues, four of which in one inning.
The pitching duo of Michael Genaro and Emmet Sheehan shut down the Silver Knights offense in Bristol. Genaro got the start and went seven scoreless innings allowing seven hits while striking out three. Sheehan then came into the game in the eighth and went three innings allowing two walks while striking out four.
The Silver Knights were on the road to North Shore to face the Navigators at Fraser Field on June 9th. This was a close competition with great pitching from both sides, but the Silver Knights would come out on top with the win three to two.
Designated hitter Thomas Joyce led the way for the Silver Knights going three for four and score on a wild pitch. Jared Brescia would score right after on another wild pitch by the Navigators that would also send Dylan Jones to third who would later score on a sacrifice fly to left field by Tom Blandini.
Joey Murphy led the way for the Navigators going one for two with an RBI on a sacrifice fly out to centerfield. Elias Verinos, who got on by a walk, scored from third when Dylan Jones threw down to second to try to catch the runner stealing and could not get the ball back in time.
Danny Ryan would get the start and picked up the loss for the Navigators going five innings and allowing three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out four. Garret Keough would then come into the game in the sixth and goes two innings allowing two hits and three walks while striking out one. Justin Foley then came into the game in the eight and went two shutout innings.
Luke Dawson got the start and the win for the Silver Knights going six innings and allowing three hits and two walks while striking out four. Jarod Norcross Plourde then came in for his first appearance going two thirds of an inning allowing two runs on two hits and a walk while striking one out. Michael Guerrero then came in and pitched an inning and a third clean while striking out two. Derek Duffy picked up the save, pitching the ninth with a one-two-three inning including two strikeouts.
